Work/School
School Counselling - There are many ways that students find their way into my office. Some come in voluntarily because things aren’t going so well in some way. Others come in wanting help from me to take action in a situation where they feel they can’t – student advocacy is a part of my job that I take seriously. Another option is to be referred to me by either a teacher, principal, friend or parent who is concerned. In that case you may not think there is a problem that needs attention. Depending on the events that lead up to our work together, you could be in any one of the mindsets that go along with your situation. All naturally occur and are a fine place to begin sorting out next steps.
While these types may apply, it doesn’t concern me where you begin your process of change because I enjoy each and every person I work with regardless of any “progress” that happens to occur. Sometimes progress occurs in almost undetectable forms that leads to more profound breakthroughs at a later stage. Naturally, more meaningful change occurs when people identify concerns they are invested in and set goals that they use to redirect their own course of action. However, the path toward that stage of change occurs at different rates for everyone.
The short of all this is that I am there to support you and your ability to find the right solution. I look forward to seeing you at school.
